So you're ready to take the next step, but how do you know how much you can borrow? You could call the bank, but you'll quickly find that each bank (and non-bank) will give you a different answer. Sometimes the differences are minor, but in some cases the difference in your 'borrowing power' from one lender to another can be in the tens of thousands, if not more.

As well as using different calculations, the different lenders also treat different types of income differently. For example, some lenders won't include overtime and bonuses, some will include only one or the other, and some will allow both.
